    Used Household Goods and Personal Effects

    Required Documents:

    1. Copy of passport
    2. Copy of packing list
    3. Original bill of lading (OBL) or copy if express release / Convention Marchandises Routiers (CMR) / air waybill (AWB)
    4. Original T2L form (page 4), if applicable
    5. Certificate of repatriation (for individuals entering from non-EU countries requesting duty-free entry)
    6. Authorization form / declaration form
    7. EORI application / declaration form
    8. Owner of the goods’ Value Added Tax (VAT) ID number
    9. Residence permit issued by Greek authorities (for foreigners)
    10. Copy of diplomatic passport (for diplomats)
    11. Diplomatic franchise (for diplomats)
    12. T1 form (for diplomats)

     

    Specific Information:

    1. Each family member entering with the owner of the goods (individuals entering from non-European Union countries) must provide a copy of their passport. The passport must be issued within the 2 years preceding entry; otherwise, the previous passport must also be presented.
    2. Owner of the goods’ Value Added Tax (VAT) ID number should be obtained at a Greek tax office closest to the new residence (for individuals entering from non-EU countries requesting duty-free entry).
    3. EORI application / declaration forms are only required by owners of the goods moving from a non-EU country.
    4. Shipments arriving from non-EU countries have three options for Customs clearance: duty-free entry, payment of duties and taxes, or diplomatic shipment.
    5. The owner of the goods must have lived abroad for a period of 2 years preceding entry and cannot have any financial ties during this time period in Greece. Proof of residency may be required, such as utility bills, tax forms, rental receipts, etc. (for individuals entering from non-EU countries requesting duty-free entry).
    6. Owners of the goods from non-EU countries who qualify for duty-free entry should contact the Greek Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin prior to departure.
    7. The owner of the goods must be present for Customs clearance at the port of Piraeus.
    8. An authorization form and an affidavit form may be required by the agent. Please contact the agent for further details.

     

    Motor Vehicles Moving to Greece

    Required Documents:

    1. Vehicle ownership documents
    2. Proof of car insurance
    3. Title/registration card
    4. Copy of driver’s license
    5. Diplomatic franchise (for diplomats)
    6. Diplomatic ID (for diplomats)
    7. Letter from the Embassy certifying diplomat’s employment, including beginning and ending dates

     

    Specific Information:

    1. Owners of the goods importing vehicles using a tourist status may temporarily import vehicles duty-free for up to 6 months.
    2. Owners of the goods possessing a certificate of repatriation for primary residence may import vehicles duty-free. The owner of the goods must be present for Customs clearance at the port of entry.
    3. The owner of the goods may be required to pay for a Greek license plate and a luxury tax (for individuals holding a certificate of repatriation).
    4. For persons importing a vehicle who hold a certificate of repatriation, the vehicle must be in the owner of the goods’ possession and in use for at least 6 months in the country of origin prior to import.
    5. Diplomats can import vehicles with temporary duty-free entry.

     

    Pets Relocation to Greece

    Required Documents:

    1. Vaccination record
    2. Veterinarian health certificate
    3. Pet passport

     

    Specific Information:

    1. Pets must have a microchip.
    2. A rabies test must be performed by a certified European Union (EU) laboratory at least 2 months prior to entry into Greece.
    3. Documentation granting permission to enter an EU country must be issued by a licensed veterinarian at the time of export from Customs in the origin country.
    4. No quarantine period is required.
    5. Duties and taxes do not apply to pets owned by the owner of the goods for at least 1 year.

     

    Restricted/Dutiable Items:

    1. Alcohol and spirits (only a small quantity is permitted; items must be identified as kitchenware and loaded first in the container or truck)
    2. Hunting weapons (authorization from the Ministry of Interior is required)
    3. Duties apply to the assessed Customs values as follows:
      • Electrical items: 23%
      • Electronic items: 35%
      • Furniture: 18%
      • Carpets: 30%
      • Computers and fax machines: 18%
      • Antiques (over 100 years): 8%
