TAKING CARE OF ALL YOUR INTERNATIONAL RELOCATION NEEDS DOOR TO DOOR

Moving Checklist to Keep You Organized for Your Move to Europe & India:

There are numerous factors to consider when preparing for a move. To ensure nothing is forgotten, it’s helpful to organize your thoughts on a moving checklist. At Iconicrelocation, we’ve taken care of this task for you by creating a comprehensive moving checklist that covers every aspect of your move. Here are some useful hints to get you started:

8 weeks before the move:

  • Take a complete inventory of your belongings.
  • Remove items from your attic, basement, storage shed, etc.
  • Begin using up perishable items that you cannot move, such as frozen foods and cleaning supplies.
  • Contact the Chamber of Commerce, visitor’s bureau, or tourism bureaus in your new community to gather information about your new city.
  • Reach out to Iconicrelocation at +91-9999-888-877 to make arrangements for moving day and discuss the details of your move.
  • Review your insurance coverage and ensure you have a clear understanding of your destination.

6 weeks before the move:

  • If you’re moving at your employer’s request, verify the expenses and responsibilities covered by your employer to avoid last-minute surprises.
  • Contact the IRS and/or your accountant to gather information on what moving expenses may be tax-deductible.
  • Start inventorying and evaluating your possessions to determine what can be sold or donated.
  • Make a list of everyone you need to notify about your move, including friends, professionals, creditors, and subscriptions.
  • Consider obtaining a mail subscription to the local paper in your new community to familiarize yourself with local government, community news, and social activities.
  • Gather all motor vehicle registration and licensing documents.
  • If you plan to store some of your goods, make necessary storage arrangements with our assistance.
  • Contact schools, doctors, dentists, lawyers, and accountants in your new location and obtain copies of your personal records. Request referrals where possible.

4 weeks before the move:

  • Submit a Change of Address form to the post office.
  • Inform us if you have pets and want to relocate them. We provide specialized services for Pet Relocation.
  • Contact utility and related companies to disconnect services at your current home. However, keep phone and utilities connected until the day you move.
  • Contact your insurance coverage companies (auto, home, medical, and life) to arrange coverage for your new home.
  • If you’re packing yourself, purchase moving boxes from your local mover and start packing items you won’t need immediately.

3 weeks before the move:

  • Make travel arrangements and reservations for your trip. Avoid making plane reservations for the same day as your move-out date to account for potential delays in house closings and other unexpected situations.
  • Collect important papers such as insurance coverage, will, deeds, stocks, etc.
  • Arrange to close accounts at your local bank and open accounts in your new location.

2 weeks before the move:

  • Have your car checked and serviced for the trip. Ensure it is prepared for the weather conditions you’ll encounter.
  • If you’re moving in or out of a building with elevators, contact the building management to schedule elevator usage.
  • Review and confirm all arrangements for your move with your relocation consultant.

1 week before the move:

  • Settle any outstanding bills with local merchants.
  • Withdraw the contents of your safety deposit box, pick up dry cleaning, return library books and rented videos, etc.
  • Take your pets to the veterinarian for any necessary immunizations and obtain copies of their veterinary records.
  • Drain gas and oil from power equipment such as lawn mowers and snow blowers.
  • Give away plants that you won’t be taking with you.
  • Prepare specific directions to your new home for your moving company, including your itinerary and emergency contact numbers.

2 to 3 days before the move:

  • Defrost your freezer and refrigerator, making sure to block open doors to prevent accidental closure on pets or children.
  • Have your major appliances disconnected and prepared for the move. We can assist in arranging third-party services for these tasks.
  • Pack a box of personal items that you’ll need immediately upon arriving at your new home. Load this box last or carry it with you in your car.
  • Organize and set aside items you’re taking separately.
  • Confirm the arrival time of the moving van with your relocation consultant and notify them of any last-minute details.

Moving Day:

  • Ensure someone is present at home to answer questions from the van foreman.
  • Record all utility meter readings (gas, electric, water).
  • Carefully read and review your bill of lading and inventory before signing them. Keep these documents, along with all related papers, in a safe location until all charges have been paid and any claims have been settled.
  • Follow your moving timeline for a sense of accomplishment as items are checked off your checklist. This timeline will help ensure nothing has been overlooked or omitted from your planning, alleviating some of your anxiety.
